Pottery
Over the past few years at Watkinson, my passion for the arts has grown significantly. I have taken Foundations in Art, 3D Sculpture as Making, 3D Sculpture Form vs. Function, and I am currently in the Advanced 3D Sculpture class. Below are some of my favorite pieces.
Lily Pad and Flower Matching Set
Mountain Mug
Birch Tree Vases
This matching set of 3 decorative vases represents family connection through nature. Each vase is stamped with a name to show the relationship between me and my two brothers.
A Journey in Clay
This is a 70-piece clay puzzle of the Continental United States, offering a glimpse into a cross-country camping trip I experienced. Outlined by the approximate route of the trip, the detailed section highlights some of my favorite views of mountains and glacial lakes.
Creative Writing
My first time delving into the art of creative writing was in my sophomore year creative writing elective. This class challenged me to form complete stories from simple ideas, and to develop relatable and complex characters. My writing has improved tremendously as a result, and I look forward to exploring this art form more in the future.
Barraca da Maria
This short story takes place in Brazil, telling the story of a young women trying to figure out what her future holds. Because of my Brazilian heritage and my experience visiting the country, I included many small details and Portuguese words that I learned from my family. The descriptions of the scenes on the beach are from my own memory from when I visited, and the story as a whole shows my connection to both the country and the culture of Brazil.
